What's Different About GoodFlexi?
There are thousands of online labor market platforms, each run by operators needing workers for a particular task or type of work. Mostly they aim for the cheapest labor. From day one, GoodFlexi has been built to empower, protect and progress a region's nonstandard workers. It is horizontal; all types of work are seamless. Earnings, data and services join-up across sectors.
Starting from a Different Place
Most platforms for hour-by-hour labor are run by employers, gig work startups or staffing agencies. They exist to fill a need; schedule staff into a superstore, get a pizza delivered or provide 20 event staff. GoodFlexi started in government programs with the question: How can market technologies unleash nonstandard workers as an economic asset at-scale?
We set 20 specific criteria for a platform that will comprehensively unlock the possibilities of such diverse individuals. Its foundational tools include:
-
Granular availability intakes: GoodFlexi doesn't just broadcast assignments out. It asks each person the hours they can be available for work; today, tomorrow or weeks ahead. It takes in personal parameters like how far they will travel from home or how much notice of work periods or shift lengths they need .
-
Micro-badging: Hour-by-hour workers can earn from all sorts of skills. We support badging of capabilities at a unique level of detail and discretion.
-
Work-types: GoodFlexi fosters ongoing work relationships with a range of tools including ability to create micro-roles. They cover a type of work so specific only one worker is entrusted to do it, care of a particular child is one example.
-
Hyper-localized data: GoodFlexi captures detailed datapoints on each hour of work. It can routinely answer queries like "What did carpet layers earn in our city center last week?"
-
Pathways: Transition to regular work is a constant theme. GoodFlexi allows approved employers to browse verifiably reliable, relevant, local people ready to move into full time.
Nonstandard workers live among a blizzard of platforms. Once work is found, ancillary apps can provide benefits, data brokerage or interpretation, networking and other services. (Most apps fail.)
GoodFlexi's open-source architecture aims to incorporate this kind of support from diverse sources into a Work First approach. The key priority is getting each person the hours they want, reflecting their entire range of competencies, at the best pay available locally from the fullest range of sources. The resulting data, proof of reliability and structures can seamlessly tackle secondary needs.
